What is your minimum age?
8 years old for Penguin and Seal Iland tour, Oyster-Cather Rockingham Foreshore Tour and Osprey Shoalwater Half Day Paddle Adventure.
10 years old for Pelican Shoalwater Paddle & Snorkel Adventure, Osprey.
12 years old for Point Peron Paddle Adventure.
Do you have a maximum weight limit?
Yes, as our kayaks have a maximum weight range. As such, we have a maximum weight of 115kgs for each person
I've never kayaked before. Do I need to be experienced?
No. Our qualified instructors will help you develop the skills you need to participate safely and have fun on the water.
What sort of kayaks do we use?
All of our guests use double kayaks on our tours. Our fleet is made up of Mission Contour 490 sit-inside sea kayaks, with rudders and waterproof storage hatches. We think they are a good balance between stability and manoeuvrability.
I am joining the tour as a solo guest. Who will I paddle with?
If you are 'travelling solo', we'll do our best to pair you with another compatible solo traveller or, depending on group numbers, you may end up paddling with your guide.
Do I need to be a strong swimmer?
No. All of our guests are required to wear PFDs (lifejackets) whilst kayaking, and are welcome to wear them whilst snorkelling also.
How much time do we spend in the kayaks?
Our tours are designed to be enjoyable for beginners as well as more experienced kayakers, and are geared towards enjoying the wildlife and scenery more than putting in distance in the kayaks. As such the paddling is broken up into manageable sections, usually with a maximum of 1 hour in the kayak at a time. We usually paddle between 3 and 5kms over the 6 hour tour. Osprey Shoalwater Half Day Paddle Adventure requires kayaking for at least 2 hours.
Do I need to be an experienced snorkeller?
No. Our friendly instructors will take you through the skills you need, and show you how it's done. The snorkel sites we use are usually quite shallow and protected. You are welcome to wear your PFD (lifejacket) whilst snorkelling if you are not a confident swimmer. Our instructors are competent snorkellers and hold current water rescue qualifications.
Can you cater for people with specific dietary requirements, food allergies and intolerances?
Yes. Please advise us on booking, or let us know at least 48 hours before the tour commences.
I would like to book with some friends from overseas, but they can't speak English. Can they join the tour?
We require at least one person in each double kayak to have, at least, a basic understanding of English, so they can understand some basic instructions. This person will be required to be responsible for the steering of the kayak and translation of instructions and safety guidelines to the non-English speaking guest. This is important from a safety perspective, so our instructors can impart important information to all of our guests.
