AUSTRALIAN SCHOOL, TAFE & UNIVERSITY PROGRAMS
Capricorn Seakayaking has delivered a wide variety of educational programs for schools, TAFE’s and Universities in Western Australia, since 1999.
SEAKAYAKING PROGRAMS
We currently offer short introductory kayaking programs on places like the Swan River, Penguin & Seal Islands/Shoalwater Marine Park and Rottnest Island in Perth, to multi-day expeditions in destinations throughout Western Australia such as; Ningaloo Reef, Shark Bay, Jurien Bay area.
Programs have been run for year 7s (11 and 12 years old) through to adults and can provide for groups of up to 40 people.
Students can also obtain the Australian Canoeing Basic Skills Awards during sea kayaking programs, for a small fee.
CO-DESIGN YOUR PROGRAM
Once we have understood your school programs objectives we can design a program together. Use our experience and local knowledge to design a program to suit your students’ needs.
We can provide assistance with:
• basic kayak skills
• camping
• navigation
• leadership
• environmental education
• meeting Outdoor Education curriculum requirements
• transport to and from programs
• National and Marine Park authorities
• accommodation options and organisation
We can recommend other activity providers eg. swim with whale shark operators.
SAFETY & INSURANCES
We take safety of all our customers seriously. All our guides are trained to Australian Canoeing Sea Kayak Instructor Award level, have first aid and water rescue qualifications and have Working with Children Clearances. Several of our Instructors are qualified teachers, including Hal Paine, owner/manager of Capricorn Seakayaking.
We have Risk Management and Emergency evacuation/communications plans for all our kayaking destinations.
We have $10 million Public Liability Insurance and DEC Licences to operate in most Marine and National Parks in WA.

Capricorn Seakayaking have organised educational programs in Perth and throughout Western Australia since 1999 for International Schools, with clients coming from Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok and Perth.
We cater for ages from 10 year olds to adult learners. Our staff are experienced with working with young people, have Working with Children Clearances and some are qualified school teachers.
PROGRAM DESIGN
Program duration can last from one hour "tasters" to multi-day expeditions that can include environmental education and interpretation, and aboriginal awareness (delivered by aboriginal people). We are strong supporters of experiential education, and "challenge by choice" for individuals.
Capricorn Seakayaking can design a program with you, that can encompass not only sea kayaking but many other adventure activities and Western Australian highlights.
We start with your program objectives, dates, calendar/seasons and budget. Your program can be recreationally based, education focused, incorporate the philosophies of Kurt Hahn, Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, and the IB TOK and/or CAS. We also offer the opportunity for students to engage in community service with activities ranging from tree planting to monitoring coral damage.
OPTIONS TO CONSIDER WHEN DEVELOPING YOUR PROGRAM:
ADVENTURE ACTIVITIES
Western Australian has a huge variety of adventure activities such as; learn to surf, sea kayaking, snorkeling, mountain biking, cycling, bushwalking, caving, abseiling, rock climbing, canoeing, sailing, sand boarding. We have outdoor education industry peers; sub-contractors to provide "other" specialist services such as: learn to surf, caving, climbing, abseiling, sailing.
WILDLIFE INTERACTION

Western Australia has some unique wildlife on show and interactions for visitors, including; dolphin watching, swim with dolphins, dugongs, pelicans, penguins, snorkel with whale sharks, whale watching, cuddle a koala and watching kangaroos in the wild.
ACCOMMODATION AND TRANSPORT OPTIONS

Remote bush camping, campground, expedition camping (mobile), hostel/bunkhouse accommodation are all some of the options you may choose during your stay. We can assist with all aspects of travel within Western Australia.
ENVIRONMENTAL, SUSTAINABILITY EDUCATION & YOUTH LEADERSHIP
All our school programs have an environmental and sustainable focus.
Capricorn Seakayaking has co-developed an Environmental Leadership and Citizenship program with Millennium Kids a Perth based NGO. It is designed for students aged 15 -25. Carbon audits can be done for your visit.
ABORIGINAL CULTURAL AWARENESS PROGRAMS
We have worked with aboriginal groups providing cultural tours in Western Australia, past students have been stoked with what they experienced and learnt.
